While the shortcrust pastry for the quiche Lorraine rests and chills, Maxine will prepare puff pastry palmiers, a delightful and flaky contrast. These tasty treats, using store-bought puff pastry, offer a quick way to demonstrate the different behaviors of puff pastry compared to shortcrust pastry. The recipe takes only 5 minutes to prepare and 15 minutes to bake, making it a perfect complementary activity during the chilling period of the shortcrust.

These tasty treats are a nice quick way to show Maxine how different puff pastry behaves compared to shortcrust pastry.

Cook Time 15 minutes

Ingredients
  

  • 1 sheet of puff pastry
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon optional

Instructions
 

  • Sprinkle sugar (and cinnamon) evenly over pastry.
  • Roll both sides inward to meet in the middle.
  • Slice into 1cm pieces and place on a lined baking sheet.
  • Bake at 200ยฐC for 12-15 minutes until golden and crispy.
