About Barbara

Barbara is an ERP Consultant-turned-Chef-turned-CEO with a knack for blending culinary precision and business strategy. Starting her career in finance and consulting in the Netherlands, she pivoted to the culinary arts during the Y2K downturn.

Barbara trained at Leith’s School of Food and Wine, graduating with distinction, and gained experience in Michelin-starred kitchens, including Raymond Blanc’s Manoir Aux Quat’Saisons and Gary Rhodes’ City Rhodes

Her culinary journey took her from London’s vibrant Borough Market to Dubai, where she reviewed restaurants for Time Out Magazine and collaborated on a cookbook promoting healthy adaptations of traditional Arabic recipes.

After returning to the corporate world, Barbara founded BXB Consulting and later co-founded Shutta Limited, a digital transformation company in Vietnam.

Through her blog, From The Frying Pan, she shares stories from a life lived globally, offering fresh perspectives on leadership, resilience, and creativity. Whether managing a brigade or a business, Barbara believes in planning, adaptability, and thriving under pressure—all with a touch of warmth and wit.
