There is nothing quite as comforting as the smell of apple, sugar and cinnamon baking in the oven. Make a few apples in one go: baked apple is a beautiful addition to a basic porridge recipe or leave it to come to room temperature and have it as a sweet mid-afternoon snack to boost your fading energy.

Ingredients
1apple
1tsp.sugar
½tsp.ground cinnamon
1cinnamon stick
Instructions
Preheat oven to 180C.
Wash and core the apple and stuff it with a teaspoon of brown sugar and the cinnamon stick.
Place in a baking dish and sprinkle with a little bit of water.
Bake in the oven for 15 minutes, until the sugar begins to caramelise and the apple is tender.
Serve, pouring a little of the caramel left in the baking dish over the apple.
Notes
Any variety of apple works well for this recipe; choose depending on your taste. Personally I prefer the tarter versions like granny smith to the sweeter apples such as golden delicious or Fuji.
