Basic Mash Potatoes Recipes (1)

There is nothing I like more than good mash potatoes and they are so easy to make light and fluffy but my problem is that I usually do not measure anything when I make them.  So I thought I should make some and pay attention to the ratio I use when making mashed potatoes.  Oh the pain of eating the experiments that ensued was devastating but I took one for the team! </end-sarcasm>

Grilled Honey Thyme Glazed Salmon with Roasted Thyme Red Potatoes

It has been a bit quiet around the as of late, life has been busy and hectic so a lot of pizza and take out has been consumed, but with our 100th post and a great one at that, I hope you can forgive us!

Yes this is the 100th post!  It is so good that I hope everyone will try it and please give feedback.  Don’t worry, it’s really easy!  Use a good wild caught salmon, I used Sockeye salmon, it is a bright red salmon with amazing taste, other great verities that I love are Coho,

Potato and Leek Gratin

Last nights menu was pork loin with hard apple cider glaze with Potato and Leek Gratin.  I am going to focus on the gratin in this post and will post the pork loin in a later post.

1 cup heavy cream 2 garlic cloves peeled and crushed lightly 2 Tbls. butter divided Spring of thyme plus some 2 leeks, halved and sliced really thin 1 ½ lbs potatoes thinly sliced (1/8th inch) 1 cup  grated Gruyere cheese salt and pepper

 Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Great Simple Steak, Butter Mushrooms, and Thyme Grilled Potatoes

After some consideration I feel this post should be about the whole meal and not just the side that I had intended to be.  I am a big fan of a big ol’ juicy steak on the grill and I am a bit of a purest when it comes to my steak.  The philosophy I use is DO NOT FUCK WITH THE GOODNESS THAT IS STEAK, simpler is better when it comes to this sacred cow as it were.
